Prajakta Gosavi

Dr Prajakta Gosavi is a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Melbourne. She completed her PhD in 2011 at ACTREC, Tata Memorial Cancer Center; India with a specialization in cell adhesion junction proteins and their role in epithelial cancer metastasis. She received a competitive UGC fellowship from the Government of India to support her doctorate work. She did her first postdoctoral training in Cell Biology lab at Utrecht University medical Center, the Netherlands. During her postdoctoral work, she gained experience in electron microscopy with a special emphasis on cryosectioning, immuno-gold labeling and basic resin-embedding techniques. Prajakta is currently pursuing her postdoctoral research in Bio21 institute at the University of Melbourne where her work focuses on use of advanced optical microscopy such as Super resolution microscope and electron microscopy to study the structure and function of the mammalian Golgi ribbon.
