Matthia A. Karreman
Matthia Karreman works as a post-doctoral fellow in the group of dr. Yannick Schwab at the EMBL Heidelberg, in German. Already during her studies at Utrecht University in the Netherlands, she developed a passion for microscopy, and for electron microscopy in particular. She stayed at Utrecht University for her PhD, where she worked with the integrated Laser and Electron Microscope (iLEM), combining a fluorescence microscope and a transmission electron microscope in a single set-up. Here, she optimized sample preparation techniques and worked on applications of this novel imaging tool in both life and material science. Now, at the EMBL Heidelberg, she works on the development of a correlative workflow combining intravital multiphoton microscopy, x-ray microCT and 3D electron microscopy.
