Darren J. Batey
Darren Batey received his PhD in lens-less imaging from the University of Sheffield (UK) in March of 2015. During his studies he made several developments in the ptychographic imaging process within the visible light, x-ray, and electron regimes. He has worked closely with the I13 beamline at the Diamond Light Source (the UK’s national synchrotron radiation facility), designing and conducting several experiments as a research student and developing software as a research associate. Darren has spent the previous year as a research fellow at the University of Sheffield working to apply the methods developed during his PhD to the electron microscope. This work is now beginning to produce high resolution phase-sensitive images of extended specimens in both SEM and STEM microscopes.
